What is a demand letter (or letter of demand LOD)?
Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$post_date in /var/www/webapp/ui/mlb_faq.php on line 96

This is a formal letter asking a person to pay money owed to another or to do some action. It also contains the claimant's complaint about that person and explains how the claimant wants to settle it. It is usually written prior to beginning a court litigation as a way to prevent going through the formal trial process. These letters are often drafted by lawyers and sent on the claimants behalf.
