If vermiculite-based insulation is contained and not exposed to the interior living part of your home, it poses little risk. If you know you have vermiculite based insulation in your attic, make sure anyone entering the attic is aware of its presence. You should not use your attic at all not even for storage. If you do use your attic for storage when retrieving items do not disturb the insulation and as a precaution wear a respirator mask. You should monitor the state of your attic to ensure that all cracks and holes are sealed and remain sealed. If you do decide to have the insulation removed, make sure that you retain the services of a properly trained and qualified professional. Never attempt to remove the insulation yourself.
