    What is interim child support?

?Interim child support? means an order for support that last only until the court makes a final order. The intention is to sustain the recipient party until the final hearing, and does not provide for all of the things that a final order might take into consideration. Sometimes the interim support order will become the basis for a settlement, or remains the only order made, because the parties cease to continue with litigation. The time between the interim and final order may also be substantial, thus making the interim order one that should be treated seriously.
