If you are the sole owner of a business, you must attend the court unless you can prove (by using a business account) that an employee with knowledge of that account can sufficiently replace you. If your business is a partnership, only one of the partners need attend.
If the business is a corporation, an officer or director must attend the court, unless it can be proved (by using a business account) that an employee with greater knowledge of the records can go. That employee cannot have been hired solely to represent the corporation and cannot be employed as the lawyer for the corporation.
