What is the difference between a signed agreement and a court order or judgment?

A written agreement signed by two or more parties is a binding, enforceable agreement. However, this agreement cannot be enforced until it becomes a 'judgment' of the court. The court creates a judgment by incorporating the provisions of the agreement into its judgment. This judgment then replaces the agreement and can be enforced by the court if either side violates it.
